What do we need to bring?
Clothes for your stay & your toothbrush. Everything
else - towels, bedlinen, toiletries, bathrobes, a selection of books,
games and CDs - we provide, and there are many places for eating
or food shopping on your doorstep if you do not wish to cook. For
a comprehensive list of what the apartment contains, please see
our contents page.
We provide a continental breakfast on your first morning.
When do we arrive and depart?
York's city centre is largely pedestrianised
during the day, so to allow you to enter the city with your car
and park, we make the apartment available after 4pm only on day
of arrival. If you are arriving by public transport, we can make
the apartment available from 2.30pm onwards.
We do not live on site and so that we can
greet you personally we would appreciate it if guests could suggest
a 30 minute time slot in which they expect to arrive.
To allow us to clean and service the apartment
properly, we ask that you vacate by 10.30 am on the day of your
departure.
What do we do with our luggage?
If you are arriving before 4pm, you can drop your
bags on arrival in York and we will call you when the apartment
is ready for you (usually mid afternoon)
Can you help us with a celebration?
Many of our guests choose Talbot Court to celebrate
a special occasion: a honeymoon, that special anniversary or a birthday.
Fresh flowers come as standard, but we can also organise champagne,
chocolates and special bouquets at cost.
Car parking
A secure gated car park is available just outside
the city centre, a five to ten minute walk away.
Note: use of the car parking is at your own risk
- we cannot accept any liability for loss or damage to your vehicle
and its contents.
What is your booking process?
Bookings can be made through VisitYork
www.visityork.org.uk or
directly with ourselves. If you are reserving Talbot Court more
than one month in advance of arrival we require a deposit of 30%
to be paid in advance. This can be paid by credit card over the
phone or by cheque.
We will then send you a booking confirmation
by post or email, along with an invoice for the outstanding balance,
payable six weeks before your stay
For holidays booked with less than one month's
notice, we require the full balance to be paid on booking, either
by credit card or (if booking more than 14 days in advance of the
arrival date) by cheque.
Cancellation:
We realise that sometimes holiday plans
can go awry. In this situation, our policy is to try and relet the
apartment. It is useful, therefore, for us to have notice as soon
as possible if a holiday needs to be cancelled.
For a cancelled holiday where we have been
able to relet the apartment for the whole period we will refund
the full cost of your holiday less an administrative fee of £25
For a cancelled holiday where we have only
been able to relet the apartment for part of the period booked we
will refund the the reletting fee less an administrative charge
of £25
If we are not able to relet the apartment
for the cancelled holiday, we will not be able to make a refund.
If, for any reason, we have to cancel your
holiday we shall refund the full cost of your payment with an extra
£25.
Please note, while the apartment rental
includes all utilities bills and parking permits, we do not cover
holiday insurance and recommend visitors take out their own policy.
Information on best value insurance policies can be found on MoneySupermarket.com
Accidents and breakages
If you accidentally damage or break anything
in the apartment, please let us know before you leave. Guests will
be responsible for costs of repair and/or replacements.
Wheelchair access
The apartments at Talbot Court are on the ground
floor with level access from the street and wide doorways so that
guests who need to use a wheelchair, or who have limited mobility,
can easily access the apartments. If you need detailed information
about access or the layout of the apartments we are pleased to advise.
Restrictions
The apartments are no-smoking and we cannot
allow pets. We do not accept bookings for hen or stag parties. We
also reserve the right to evict guests who are causing excess noise,
damage or disruption, with no refund given.
Finally, and with regret, we cannot accept children
under 10 as we do not think the apartments are suitable for young
children.
Environmental impact
We know that there is concern over the environmental
impact of holidays. Here are some of the measures we have taken
to minimise the impact of your break.
A city centre holiday can be very energy
efficient as you are within a few minutes walk of most of the attractions.
At Talbot Court we try and minimise the impact of our enterprise
on the environment: If you prefer to travel by train we are happy
to welcome you early, at 2.30pm, secure parking for bicycles is
provided and bicycle hire is available nearby.
The apartments
reach the highest current standards for insulation and energy efficiency
and we use low energy fittings wherever possible. We hope that you
will appreciate that we air-dry laundry (tumble drying uses large
amounts of energy) and we supply toiletries in standard sizes to
minimise packaging.
As a matter of policy we use local shops
both for equipping the apartments and for supplies. If you wish
to source local produce for use during your stay try the local butchers,
bakers and York market, all of which are on your doorstep.
